  "conversion_factor": 36.0,
  "conversion_comment": "Unmatched before this row, on `multiple-flow-object-candidates`, so 137 datasets' worth of natural gas reached no gas flow at all. 36.0 MJ per cubic metre is the EF 3.1 LCIA method as implemented by the ecoinvent Centre, and is what ecoinvent states for its own `Gas, natural` onto this same target -- in m3 at 3.8 and in Sm3 from 3.9, at the same number. Not an IPCC value: Table 1.2 is TJ/Gg throughout, with no volumetric column, so it gives natural gas at 48.0 MJ/kg and nothing per volume. For natural gas a normal cubic metre and a standard cubic metre are the same quantity, so the two unit spellings take the same factor and there is no conversion between them. Both name 15.00 C (288.15 K) at 101.325 kPa: for Nm3 see the ScienceDirect engineering topic page for 'cubic metre', which gives the normalised cubic metre applied to natural gas as base conditions of 101.325 kPa and 15.00 C; for sm3 see the standard cubic metre, defined as the gas contained in a cubic metre at 15 C and 101.325 kPa. The 0 C reading of Nm3 -- DIN 1343, which `units.json` records -- is the general industrial convention and is not the one the gas industry uses for natural gas, which is the only substance this unit appears on here."
