"conversion_comment": "115 datasets' worth of natural gas. #414 took the `/m3` tail off this row's name, because the name said `m3` while the unit field said `Nm3`, so it is `Gas, natural` by the time the merge sees it. Same 36.0 MJ per cubic metre as the `m3` spelling of this same flow. BAFU writes this row's unit `Nm3`, which normalises to `sm3`: for gas the two are one quantity and the alias in `domain/units.py` says so, so the pair the merge builds is sm3 to MJ and that is what this row states. Both name 15.00 C (288.15 K) at 101.325 kPa: for Nm3 see the ScienceDirect engineering topic page for 'cubic metre', which gives the normalised cubic metre applied to natural gas as base conditions of 101.325 kPa and 15.00 C; for sm3 see the standard cubic metre, defined as the gas contained in a cubic metre at 15 C and 101.325 kPa. The 0 C reading of Nm3 -- DIN 1343, which `units.json` records -- is the general industrial convention and is not the one the gas industry uses for natural gas, which is the only substance this unit appears on here. BAFU uses the two spellings for this flow in different datasets -- 115 in Nm3 against 137 in m3, and no dataset uses both -- which tracks the vintage of the data rather than a difference in what is measured: the Nm3 rows carry an Enerdata 2024 comment and no CAS number, the m3 rows carry the legacy CAS and no comment."
